What a great retreat weekend! We had 28 women and a wonderful speaker. I had the chance to help plan the retreat this year and it was fun seeing all the ideas and plans we had come to pass. To see how God used our individual talents to bring this all together. God is Amazing! He made me who I am and loves me beyond what I can understand. In this crazy world His love gives me such great perspective and confidence. It was so fun to hang out with friends and relax. To have a complete conversation, wonderful food, soak in the hot springs, late night talks and the chance to be silly and laugh until your cheeks hurt (that’s exercise, right?) Our speaker was hilarious and amazing. She has such a heart for God and puts her self out there for God to use and people to enjoy. God has blessed my life with great friends and a church I love. I am so excited to see what God has in store for us in the next year.

We took the boys to the little park across the street and played for the evening. It has finally cooled off and we enjoyed being chilled. Okay, so maybe just me. Shawn and the boys didn’t think it was cold at all. They thought it was perfect and we stayed until dark. I love having the park so close. We will see how city life feels after we have been here awhile. So far, we love it. Today we went out for a walk through downtown to find some pizza and found a car show. It was perfect for the boys, they loved all the old cars and the music. They danced all around and ran from car to car. Too much fun. We did find a great pizza place (not as good as Pizza Man) and enjoyed a yummy lunch. Austin was so cute and grown up this morning. He was excited and very brave. No tears from him, only me! I cried so much a random mother hugged me. She was also sending her first child to school. How did 5 years go by so fast? How can he be so grown up? I asked what he did today and he replied, “Nothing but stand in a line and walk around and I still don’t know how to read.” “When will I be done with school?”, ” Is it summer yet?” Were the two first statements(back to back) Austin had as we picked him up from his first day of school. I am not sure he is sold on the whole idea of school yet. In anyone’s account the month of July at the Nay house was crazy! We moved!?! We are now in Fullerton and about 2.5 miles from Shawn’s work and Austin’s new school. We love it here! Granted its been only a few weeks. Shawn loves his commute (about 5 minutes), I love that we are in a city that has lots of community activities and closer to the beach and did I mention it was 20 degrees cooler. We still have room for guests and we are even closer to Disney! Yes, that is a plug for people to come and visit!!! In the middle of packing and getting a house ready to sell and a house ready to move into, Landon had such a high fever he had seizures and had to go to the ER in an ambulance. To say it was scary, is an understatement and its one of the rare times you are happy to pay tons of money to find out your baby is healthy. So, we met the month of August tired, happy and celebrating another birthday. We had a great day at the beach with friends! We played in the sand and surf, ate tons of yummy snacks and laughed the day away. We liked it so much that we stayed till dark and roasted dogs over a mommy made (love those Alaska roots) fire. Austin rode a boogey board for hours and never left the sand. It was fun hearing him tell his dad how he hit the waves. Austin has a great group of Buddies and he will miss having them close by. Our friends Kelly, Cole and Haley hanging with us at the beach. What a day!
I can not believe my baby is 2! As I searched the house for the #2 candle I know is here, somewhere, and I am sure I will find in a couple of weeks when I search the house for the #5 candle I can find today. I wonder how is he 2 already? He is so sweet and so much fun. His laugh is contagious and his spirit is calming. He can terrorize his brother and has the look “did you really mean, No?” down. He likes bugs, mud and trying things I am sure will have him ending up in the ER. Yep, he is 2! We had a great day celebrating his big day, even with a runny nose and cough. To say it has been hot here is understatement. We got a little pool with a boogie board and a ramp which they love and helps to cool them down. However, a little pool with a boogie board are definitely for kids younger than 32(the boys enjoyed seeing Mom give it a try.) I will do most anything to hear Landon chant “Mommy, Mommy”. Landon loved the baseball things Austin got him and it won’t be long until they will be playing catch with each other. Landon is a blessing in our lives for sure and I am excited to see this little man grow before our eyes.
We are home from our vacation and it could not have been any better. We spent 18 days with my Grandma Lance in Minneapolis. My Mom and Dad, Alonda and her girls, & Wende were all there. We saw tons of family during the trip and it was so nice. Aunts, Uncles and cousins from both sides of the family. It was wonderful!! The memories of my kids with my Grandma are priceless and the time with my parents no words can describe. The joy I have knowing my Grandma was loved on, enjoyed by and laughed with by my boys is the best! Add on all my family and it was a great vacation. My mom wasn’t even home 24 hours before she was planning the next trip.
We took the boys to their first baseball game. Yeah! We went and watched the Angels play the Royals at Angel Stadium. The Angels lost, but we had so much fun. We stayed for the whole game and the boys enjoyed every minute of it. Austin was sure they would hit 5 home runs and we would catch number 5. No home runs, but we did have a few foul balls hit our way. The boys loved the 7th inning song and had me sing it all the way home. For those of you not familiar with where we live…it’s about an hour drive, so we sang it many times. Can’t wait till the next game. Thanks Kevin! |
